For the love of the sport, motocross and ATV's. . . . I listed this here.

We are stripping down the 660 to either make a frame repair or completely replace the existing frame. Half down, half to go. I have had several estimates and got the funds to repair. But with Josh walking away scot-free from the awful crash the quad took the punishment. And the frame just ahead of the motor is the problem area. Its the 2 tubes from the nose past both left and right lower A-arms that has the kink or bend.

I may just go the route of replacing the frame instead of possible repair. Ron Poff, you did a great job on the '85, are you still in the biz of painting frames? If so, you interested, or is it better to powdercoat it. Kirby is already going to powdercoat BLACK the new A-arms and ITP front wheels (the original wheels are "D" shaped not round now, so those are replaced). What I'm thinking about is a color change (for the frame only). The quad is the limited edition All black, wheels, plastic, frame; with the gun-metal grille and yellow fender stickers. But while the unit is disassembled I thought a frame color change might be good looking. Then again I bought the all-black for a reason I guess, so its not a must-do. Your thoughts or yes/no's welcomed.

Garth, Josh's good friend has been at races and was at Wyco. Has the YFZ450 which was very LIGHTLY damaged and is running again. But with their accident he had a 3 day hospital stay and broken bones where josh didn't even get a bruise. So extra work here on an ATV is just fine with me. When I get the 660 back running I will buy Josh his own again. No more borrowing mine. I also want it for motocross races as I run back and forth watching him race. Besides, I don't have a golf cart and am not in as good of shape as you are! So you see the need.

Let me know what you think.

Ron,

If you want it to stand out from the rest, a different color would look good. But of course, black would look good too, since it was a limited edition on that model. I really don't have time right now to paint it for you, but maybe this fall/winter if you still have it apart then. (I'm working on a 53 chevy pickup right now.)

Wow, that red one you have? It may be done this year of in the spring 2007? We can't wait to see it. It would make a big statement showing up at the track pulling the "Poff Racing" trailer.

No, the red truck is still sitting in the same spot. It's the black/green/grey one I'm working on. It's actually all black now. I don't know if the "red" one will ever be done. LOL

Ron,

Oh yeah, I think I remember that truck. The red one just stood out so much.

As for my project, the 660 is stripped down and the frame will be replaced. Its a hit-or-miss whether the old one can be repaired to become fully safe again. I won't push it to the limit, but if I EVER let Josh ride it again, he probably will. So I have decided to replace the frame and start over from the ground up. I understand you are busy and when I go to swapping frames, I will contact you and see what your schedule is looking like. Say hello to the gang for us.

PS. . . . His 80cc will be done Friday. The ring came apart in the cylinder and hes been using the '03 only lately. Loves it. Thank you.

Wow only took two years, but the 660 ready to go and the 80 is gone, new motor and all. Caleb is a master with complete resto work and he has the time as I don't (Harley riding) so two years went by and here I am. Last go round on the strong 85. Replace with 09 250F. Whew
